Liberia ::

One of the most tropical countries in West Africa, Liberia remains mostly untouched by the western world. From the mountains in the north to the Cavalla river in the south, Liberia [map] is covered by dense thick jungle. Located on the west coast of Africa, Liberia is bordered by Guinea in the north, Ivory Coast to the east, Sierra Leone on the north-west and the Atlantic Ocean to the south and south-west.

Because Liberia was never colonialised, little economic growth has been seen and most of the country destroyed by the civil war that began in 1990. Much of the population fled the conflict to neighbouring countries and only recently have they begun to return.

If you want to remain near civilisation then perhaps Lake Piso or the beaches of Cape Palmas will suit you.

Because of the vegetation, much of this country has not been touched by the western world. Travelling inland from towns such as Greenville you will disappear from the world as you know it. No TV, no radio, no newspapers - just a country waiting to be explored.

Either way, the untouched beauty of Liberia will capture your hearts forever. Those that go the extra mile will be guaranteed of the experience of a lifetime.
